Grixal German Shepherds is a family owned and run kennel, always aiming to breed quality dogs. The emphasis is on quality and not quantity. Always trying to do our best to produce what in our opinion is the best for the breed, or in other words, to produce litters which are uniform in looks, size, bite, health and most importantly, temperament. This does not occur by sheer coincidence. Sometimes lady luck plays a major role more than any of us would like to admit. We always try to do our best to our knowledge and leave the rest to nature. Where breeding is concerned the most important issue that we look at, is not to mate dogs just to have a try. We try to combine matings that in our opinion will lead to successful progeny.

Funnily enough when I was still a toddler, I was really scared of dogs. Due to the doctor’s advice, my parents decided to buy a small white toy poodle called “Sandy”, just for me to get used to dogs…and that was it. At least until now twenty years down the time. I have been involved seriously in breeding and showing German shepherds since year 2000 when I bought my first bitch called “Saam” to whom I owe a lot as she has taught me a lot about this fantastic breed. Our german shepherds carry both german and british bloodlines. Mainly being the “VA1 Ursus vom Batu (German Sieger)” line and the “Jemness Atlas (1996 – 1999 UK’s top Sire)” line.

In 2005, we decided that it was time to give a boost to our breeding and show programme. With special thanks to Linda Barclay and Keith Williamson from the Korzwin GSD’s in the UK, we imported a very promising five-month-old male puppy called “Korzwin Schultz”. He turned out to be an excellent example of this breed, being crowned CHAMPION at the tender age of two years. Kindly refer to Schultz’s page

Although we are relatively newcomers to the GSD world, we can proudly say that in the last few years have been awarded many top honours by famous world judges and breed specialists. Some of the awards include a Reserve Best In Show, Best Puppy in Show All Breeds, a Reserve Best Puppy in Show, and numerous group winnings with Best of Breed in Malta.
